Miguel shares his journey as a Development Engineer
Meet Miguel, our Development Engineer for the Ultrasound Systems Verification and Validation team. He took over our Instagram account @lifeatphilips, for a week, to share his experience as part of the Philips family!
Hey everyone! I’m Miguel from Washington, DC! I’m excited to share with you, my #LifeAtPhilips journey! My story starts early by having parents who are proud nurses from the Philippines. Naturally, they shared with me their mindfulness towards good health care since I was very young. Time passed by and some months after completing my degree in Biomedical Engineering, I became part of the Ultrasound Systems Verification and Validation team, a group of specialists with clinical expertise and engineering experience who ensure our software products reach radiologists bug-free. I chose to start my career here because I knew I could have a real relationship with the people with whom I work and directly impact the industry's technologies. It's a perfect job!
These days, I'm learning how we test our newest software releases to ensure our innovations reach customers bug-free. Through the SV&V team, every possible software release passes a final test before reaching the market. This gives me a good bird’s eye view of our business’ suite of products.
I’m finding impressive the assistance system of Philips. Engineers and managers are willing to support young professionals like me to feel confident and grow. I’ve been preparing to work on testing products like Lumify, our portable Ultrasound system that connects to smartphones and other mobile devices. In my first few weeks, it’s been important to meet Product Engineers covering a range of projects from our premium systems to mobile and tablet-based imaging products.
In these past few weeks, I've seen how my teammates are quick to show me a protocol or routine. So far, these people have helped ease my commute, build exercise into my daily routine while passing down their expertise. Because of the strong bond, we are building; I do social activities with them like going to sporting event and running together when we are not working.
